First road trip with my Hummer and tips for charging

good idea to have a Tesla adapter and Tesla supercharging account ready.. Not necessary, but way more charging options if you do.

Definitely this... other than that, nothing special you should do.

Thank you! I bought the adapter right after I purchased the Hummer. Went today and tried it out and it was very easy to use. I’m excited because my husband has the Cyber truck and I believe that my Hummer is going to be way more comfortable. We went to Tennessee’s week and a guy promptly shot us the bird when we passed him. I believe this must be because of the Cyber truck and Elon Musk!!! Don’t think we will have that with my Hummer. Thanks for your post. 👍

People might give you some funny looks at the Tesla SuperChargers, but I just chuckle, knowing I’m driving the king of EVs! Just plan for a little extra time when traveling, and if there’s a good restaurant or coffee shop nearby, that’s just a bonus!

I agree!!! Thanks for the info!!! Will let you know how it went.

Keep your speed to the posted limit and you'll make up that time by less frequent stopping to charge.

Also, get behind the biggest vehicle you can find, set your follow distance to one bar, engage supercruise and you'll gain a signification improvement in how far you go between charges.

Lastly, only charge to 80% unless your stopping for a meal or overnight.

Waiting for that last 20% just isn't worth it.

This is great advice!

Related to road trips, anyone who has charged at a Tesla super charger, what is the ballpark cost to go from 20-80%?

My model Y performance would cost about $19 for that, but the Hummer battery is at least twice as big…

This is not 20 to 80, but can give you an idea what I’ve gotten on 39 minutes , it is pretty quick:)

Appreciate it, that is about what I expected, 63 kWh, $27. Thank you!!!

For anyone who has never done a road trip with an EV, Tesla super chargers are the only real way to go…. Their locations have been set to be about in 100 mile intervals on major highways, they are fast and powerful (high voltage and current) and reliable- typically every stall works and if not, their maintenance people get on it.
