GM Energy PowerShift Level 2 Charger for home charging

I read that bidirectional only started working on 2024 or newer Hummers. Besides the charger, if you want to power your house, you also need a $4200 B2B integration box/group of boxes to control that flow into your house, also sold by GM power.

In concept, power your house would be cool. In practice, it is difficult since you need to disconnect from the grid while the vehicle powers the house. And, unlike the grid, when the hummer powers your house, you are limited in kWh it can produce. So, if you run your AC, your hot tub, your oven and your dryer at the same time, that would likely exceed what the hummer can power and therefore, some devices won’t work, and possibly could be damaged.

I think the best use case is a power outage and at least you keep the lights on and the fridge powered.

I'm planning on using just PowerShift charger for now to enhance home charging speed. So, it is compatible to add on bi-directional module to power the house later as necessary.

Wondering if anyone has tried just the PowerShift charger at home. Does it work properly? is it worth it?
 
I’d also like to hear reviews- if it is the 80 amp version , not only is it twice as much $ as other L2 chargers but it uses twice as much power. 80 amps is a lot! My 50 amp GE charger has worked fine for years on multiple EVs. But, if it’s your main place to charge the hummer, and you plan to start charging at say 20% SOC remaining, regularly, you might want/need it.

For most EVs charging at home, it’s like your phone, plug it in overnight and it’s 100% in the AM. That’s because most people drive fewer than 100 miles/day.
