Audio System Workaround

I’ve had my 2024 Hummer EV 3X SUV for about 2 weeks now and I must say that I came to the same conclusion that many others have; the audio system is underwhelming. It felt like a slap in the face throwing all of this technology into the heaviest behemoth on the road and adding the stereo of a Ford Festiva. I began searching for alternatives and only found that replacing the hardware is most likely answer. Bummer, because I’m not sinking extra money into a $100K+ with a design flaw.

By dumb luck i found a workaround. I’d been using the streaming services and radio and just happened to open “Android Auto” seemingly for maybe the second time (Android is already so well integrated I didn’t notice I wasn’t using it). My “VLC” player pulled up all the audio on my phone and started to play. It sounded INCREDIBLE! What’s the difference? The settings in my app are amped and EQ’d, I forget until I play the music thru my headphones in the gym, its hitting! This may not work for everybody but I got a big digital music collection and if I’ll spend a week looking for audio solutions, I’ll spend one jamming all of my favorite songs into my phone to listen to while I’m cruising in the Hummer. That feels so good to say.

For anyone with an Android phone (and maybe iPhone) I’d give it a try. All this system needs is some better equalization and maybe a second subwoofer and it’ll sound much better than its letting on.

Great to know! Thanks for sharing this tip.

Is there a good equalizer to download from App Store?
Great question, I don’t know if there is a player for iOS that you’d prefer to use while driving. A bunch of DJ apps can do it that have extensive sound management, but it’d have to be preloaded. Unless they’ve made a DJ app/streaming service.
